Got the chance to talk with my Dad today about my aquaponics project, and what design I'm hoping to try for my first set up. Though he's retired now, I like picking his brain on the plumbing/piping aspect of how I might try this, and what ideas work well vs. what might not work so well. He seemed interested enough to hear me out and ask me some good questions, and seemed to follow what I was saying quite easily. So I'm excited about that. My parents are the ones who taught me how to grow food on a farm when I was growing up, to sustain the family, and at times, I know that he misses being involved in this stuff now, so perhaps this is a way to both give him some mental stimulation for ideas, and I can also share some of my harvest with him. I'm still really hoping that he will build a greenhouse at his place. If I can show him how this works out, who knows? Maybe he will get into it also? I don't want to overwhelm him, but just want to be able to do something fun and interesting with him. I also want to be able to take what I've learned from Mom and Dad over the years, and teach it to my children, and pass on all the knowledge that comes along with it. Anyway, I felt that today's talk was good.
