Liability Insurance for Small Scale Commercial Aquaponics

Does anyone know of any insurance companies that will cover a commercial aquaponics system?  I live in WV and am having a hard time finding a company that will cover it.  Thanks for your help.  Matt

Hi Ki Pi,

what link are you referring to?  I didn't say anything about a link here?

This is years old I don't remember exactly where I answered the question in other threads so I would have a hard time finding the posts again to link them back here.

The truth is, trying to explain to an insurance company about aquaponics is likely to simply confuse them.  For insurance, you are likely to want to look for some form of FARM INSURANCE and you will have to decide exactly what it is you want to be insured for.  Are you wanting just liability insurance in case some one trips and falls when they are on your property?  Or are you going to pay for liability insurance to cover your product sales?  Are you going to allow visitors to your farm?  And if you go telling the insurance company about fish, they will charge a lot for insurance because when they hear about fish they often think ponds and boats and if you are letting people come to your property to use boats or even fish on the edge of a pond, the liability will be much greater and trying to convince the insurance company that your farm isn't like that after you have mentioned edible fish can be rather difficult.  At least these are some of the things I discovered when looking into insurance for my farm.

Sorry Sylvia, When I saw the blog post I had already answered the question twice the previous evening.

Yes, I would rather it get asked multiple times than not asked at all but agree that the commercial group or forum section is the better place to ask.

TC, Matt is pretty new here and this is the first time he posted a question.  He started with by submitting a blog post, and I suggested that he create a forum topic as well because I felt that would get a better response.  Many people do this their first time.  I'd rather have a question posted in multiple places than not posted at all...wouldn't you?

Matt, I also think it would be a good idea for this to become a topic in the Commercial Aquaponics group.  Hopefully someone in our community can answer your question!

Matt, posting the same question in multiple places isn't necessarily going to get you more answers, it just tends to start looking like spam and if people answer in multiple places it gets hard to keep track of the answers and help keep information organized.
