early fish observations

Lets say you live somewhere that does not have a subtropical climate suitable for tilapia and haven't the inclination or money it takes to build a climate controlled system to house them. No fish yet but...

Here is my aquaponics rig so far. I guess its persistent lack of fish makes it hydroponics. I'm being a good boy this time around and following state fish and wildlife regs importunately that means I can only get my fish from state approved sources. The only fish farm that can legally sell yellow perch in Washington in in Oregon. After contacting them nearly weekly since march about buying some they finally admit they haven't checked their yellow perch  pond and probably wont…

First stage

This is what I have so far-

type: CHOP

Tanks: Stock tank=100gal Rubbermaid stock tank, sump=100gal Rubbermaid stock tank,

Growbeds: 4'x3'x1' 60g Aquaponics Sorce growbed w/ bell siphon, media=3/4" gravel.

Plumbing: Rio Pro+ 1100 pump (in sump)

Livestock: one lonely crayfish
