They just need to be washed out with soap and water and they will work just fine. I sold 20 of those tanks to a guy who has a tropical fish farm and he has not had any problems with the tanks. Don't rinse them out on the grass because the fluoride will surface kill the grass. I learned this the hard way. The grass did grow back in. I just recently started to get the tanks that had the organic liquid fertilizer in them. Thanks,
