Moved to California last year. Have been slowly putting together a dutch bucket system with fish added to the resevoir last month. My plants were doing poorly until I added fish. It gets real hot out here, 90 - 110 since a month ago. Typical dessert hot days and cool nights.

Posted on October 16, 2012 at 11:22am 27 Comments

Hello,

I do not have a system yet and I am currently residing in Illinois.  I hope to be moving to the northern Arizona area early May 2013.  If I can line everything up I like to be able to begin installing my system upon arrival.  I am in the process of getting my business plan together and while doing research I received correspondence from a commercial aquaponics dealer.  I was told that most systems have difficulty getting certified as organic "except for their system."…

I want to share with you my goals now and in the future. Im going to be working with a school district putting gardens in schools. They have dirt plots up now but I want to incorporate an aquaponic system in schools without gardens. When the time is right, I will be doing something on a larger scale first here in Phoenix and then in Show Low to provide schools.

Have you at least started raising fish in an aquarium?

It seems you and I have a lot in common, I too have been following Will Allen's farm since my beginning. I would highly suggest you get his book- The Good Food Revolution.

Im happy that you found us and want to let you know if I can do anything for your cause, its commendable! If you wanting to do this aquaponic thing on a large scale I would suggest you talk to Dr. George Brooks. I have some other aquaponic friends in the Prescott/Chino Valley area that would help with your endeavor.
