A picture the towers in the display for live produce sales at Big Hollow Natural Foods. The reception so far has been great, despite most of the customers being gone on spring break. So far, customers are willing to pay a premium to pick thier own produce.

Nope, it has an integrated irrigation system.  The plants are transported live in their towers and then irrigated at market with water.

Awesome!!  Love the idea of having live produce in a shop.  Way back in 2008/9, I was bouncing ideas around moving AP crops into shops in mini units, but NOTHING as presentable as this.  Hope it goes places for you.

Thanks AJ. I've been thinking about it for a while, and was trying to figure out a wa!y to do it without impacting the plant health at all (besides being cut and eaten :D ) and by making the process as intuitive as possible for consumers. . . hopefully it works out. I don't know if growers are ready or willing to implement this kind of thing- we'll see. Hopefully my economic data will be so compelling you'd be crazy not to!

This is badass!  I have a similar idea, its not as pretty as yours though :)  I wanted to build a little raft system for my local coop, so i could bring my plants their still in the net pots.  Beautiful work, im really happy for your and for people to have availability to such a fresh product.
