Noticed this in my grow bed directly under the broccoli at the opposite end of were the water flows in. It is brown, sticky and has no odor. The worms seem to not go over there.
John, it looks like simple brown algae. Nothing to be alarmed over, though an opaque container or container wrap will prevent it, and your worms and roots don't like light. There are also many types of photosynthesizing bacteria that use light if it's available, or break down chemical bonds (like hydrogen sulfide) as a food source in the absence of light. So covering it up now may not make it go away, but again, nothing to be alarmed about.
