These are vertigro pots. They insulate the plants from cold and heat.  They work great and last at least 5 years.

Seem to be vertigro to me http://vertigro.com/images/products/specials/VGP-12.jpeg but are these just styrofoam containers with notches on the top?

Thought styrofoam was frowned upon in the AP community? I know on the eco-community front most avoid it because there is no way to recycle it, it never decomposes ... and if I recall styrene is very toxic when making styrofoam and has been linked to cancer >.br/>
