looks can be deceiving.  ;)  this plant is thriving, exploding with growth.  this is not a DWC-grown plant with its roots hanging freely in clear water.  this is a marginal aquatic plant that loves exactly this type of habitat.  in fact, this plant didn't really take off until enough yummy gooey goodness had built up at which point it just sent roots everywhere.

nope.  if you look close, every bit of root you see is a beautiful bright white.  there's plenty of oxygen in the water which is why the 'soil' smells good and not like something rotten!

eewwwey gooey. These roots look like they are on the verge of suffocating.
