the basil in this picture are just transplants that need to be moved. i will cut out the middle at the fourth internode, transplant to the gravel beds, then harvest every week or two for 8-10 weeks. the kale gets harvested weekly, just the bottom or big leaves. And they stay on the rafts. I like to grow the transplants on the raft, talk about great root development. Sometimes, I wonder if just growing the plant for 8 weeks then cutting the whole plant at once would be best. I know it would keep bugs from getting established, as well as keeping the plant in its peak and so on. But I don’t have the discipline to keep up the seeds.

Looks so nice! I have a question - How do you harvest? Are you planning on pulling the entire plant -roots and all? Or do harvest the majority of each plant and let them regenerate?
