No worries, Morningstar.  Sorry to be the "heavy", but I've had to deliver the same message to others in the past so I need to treat everyone equally.  I completely support the great work you guys are doing and it's great to have you as part of our community!

Sylvia - Sorry, wasn't try to commercially advertise. We are a research facility in FL that also provides certified Blue Tilapia fingerlings, brood stock and breeding colonies on a rare basis. This is just such an occasion, and we were just trying to get the word out. Apologies!   :D

Anyone interested in Certified Blue Tilapia fingerlings, brood stock, or breeding colonies - Please Contact Morning Star Fishermen @ 352-523-2722 & make sure to say you were referred from Aquaponics Community!

Looking for information on raising Tilapia in Texas.  I understand we need a permit for all but the Mozambique for personal use, but wondering about suppliers, and plans for small aquaponics system to include, pumps, tanks, filters, etc..  I want to do it correctly the first time.

Anyone know of anywhere in MN, metro area to get tilapia?  Or does anyone living in the metro area have any tilapia for sale?
Comment by Molly Stanek on March 12, 2011 at 10:08am

We have been getting our tilapia from a place in New Mexico I believe, but we're phasing them out in favor of yellow perch, which we are able to get through a special relationship with the university in town.

ya might see who supplies Growing Power and Sweet water or you might even contact aquaponics.com to see if they have any recommendations for in WI

Would anyone happen to know of a local source for Tilapia to get started?

We are in Oshkosh Wisconsin. We have one supplier who is in town, but they only sell hybrids and males.

Id like to eventually have a breeding pair / pairs

Thanks

Yea, David, you might even ask Cosmo to put post the info up in the header box on the Florida group.

David, you might want to post your offer on the Florida Aquaponics group comment section as well.

Hey Matt, try carolina fisheries (252-322-7117) for the striped bass and Southland fisheries corp (803-776-4923) for the yellow perch. They are both in SC but the closest I could find to you.

Have you looked through these sources yet?

Aquaponics Greenhouse for sale. Inverness Fl.  I have to sell my up and running Aquaponics greenhouse due to immediate financial problems. This greenhouse is approx 10x40. It has been designed and built to be disassembled and moved. All of the windows are commercial Double pane low e-glass.  The glazing is high quality Polycarbonate.  It has hanging Vertigrow stacks, DWC float troughs and a gravel bed.  At this time two of the Qty 5 of 250 gal fish tanks are up and running. Danner water and Air pumps. Everything in the Greenhouse is less than one year old.  Aluminet Shade cloth. Many many other things are included. All plants and fish etc of course.  I have spent over 10K on this project and need to liquidate ASAP.  I asking $5000 and you will have to dismantle and move it. Please review my photos for lots of shots of it.  Way too many things to list here.

First come first serve.

Hi guys, sorry but I deleted the earlier company advertisement thread and associated links and comments. This area is intended to be more like a Craig's List area for exchanging used or excess equipment among community members, or to help people who are trying to find something specific rather than a place for companies to freely advertise.  I realize that the intro to this page didn't state that very clearly before so I've now modified it. Thanks for understanding.
