The idea is to post the overall description of your system: fishtank and GB size, pump timing and drain method, type of fish, how long it's been running, and the overall purpose you have in mind (and…Continue

Hi, I'm new to AP and just now building my system. Two 330gal IBCs w/ tops cut off and used as the grow beds. I'll build out new 4'X16' growbeds soon. I'm looking for suggestions on submersible pumps. I know I'll have to divert water back into the fish tank for now. I'm mainly interested in brands, size, hp, gpm...
Thanks,
John
Mike,
Sorry about the loss of fish. What are your water readings at now? Are the koi still alive? How long were you without power? I am in Blanco and we lost power only a short amount of time. I hope your Bio bed wasn't completely ruined.
I'd like to see your system sometime. I work in South Austin.
Randall , Could you provide the link to those pumps that will switch to battery back up if ac goes out?
Damn it. My system has been well cycled and going for about 2 years now.
My 2yro catfish died last night, but the koi survived (but are unhappy).
All 15 of them died. 6 of them at 18". deadcatfish.JPG
Water was low, and power went out (GCFI tripped) during a rain storm.
Postmortem chemistry: pH 6, Nitrite 0.25, Ammonia 0.5, phosphates 10+
Not enough dissolved O2? Electrocution??? I dont understand.
PH is 6.8, Ammonia and Nitrite is 0, and Nitrates are less than 5 ppm. I did add additional aeration and they seem to be responding favorably to that.
Anybody have any experience in ridding their goldfish of Ick? My system has cycled and everything was growing great but then the fish started dieing off. All of the water tests are within the safe range but every day I am losing a couple of fish. Down to 3 fish left in the system. Should I completely drain it all out and refill and start over? Any suggestions?
Really interested in setting up a system for veggies and tilapia in Lubbock, Texas. Anybody got any info on local suppliers? Thanks in advance!
and 100% ammonia from ace hardware of course .
