I have red and yellow bell peppers, eggplant that made it through the winter damaged but  a live. Should I try and keep them our replant?

When I was a young teen my grand parents said a little frost won't hurt the plants just so you got up before the sun rise and washed the frost off. I tested it with a branch of a tomato plant leaving the frost on and the sun burned it. The rest I washed off were ok.

As for the cold, our garden is doing well but our tilapias are laying low and aren't too interested in food. Fortunately there is enough nitrate in the system so the reduced feed has not effected our plants too much.

We have around 200 lbs of blue tilapia and want to reconfigure our hydroponic tanks after the weather warms up. If anyone is in need of fish for a system we have blue tilapia fingerlings and 1.5 ~2lb for live transport.

Yea some frost blanket to protect the toms, peppers and green beans is probably a good idea.

Our forecast is for 32 on Sunday but I don't actually expect it to get that low here.  The forecast is usually right for the airport and around 2-3 degrees colder than here.

I've got some young lettuce, green bean and pepper plants that have been out there less than a week, and I've got 5 tomato plants with over 100 tomatoes growing on them so I'd hate to see them damaged.  I may go ahead and cover if the forecast doesn't improve.

Where I am the weekend forecast doesn't even look like we will see a freeze at all.  Low here looks like it's supposed to be down to 38 over the weekend and back up to 60 during the day.

During that last freeze (and it wasn't all that HARD a freeze, I think we got below 30 F for a few hours but it wasn't like the ones we had a few years ago) There was some minor damage to some plants but the only "dead" plant was one Nasturtium, a small one in a raft bed.  All other nasturtiums that were not under trees took some damage but they have since recovered.  Tropicals took some damage from the freeze so if you have any of them, you need to protect them.

My lettuce got slowed down but the minor bit of frost we got didn't seem to do much damage.  The broccoli, kale and collards like the cold so they were happy with it.

TC, how did your plants do uncovered during the freeze?  Another one coming this weekend and I'm tempted to follow your lead on it.

Yes I'm fairly sure the skeeter fish are breeding quite well (live bearers kinda like guppies) but I think the female has the ability to control gestation so she only drops the babies when conditions are suitable.  So in an over crowded tank under poor conditions she may remain quite big but never seem to have the babies but move her into her own tank with good conditions and food and suddenly there are babies.  But I haven't had much time to really test this observation, just seems to happen that way.  They are definitely tough little bug eaters and I have dozens I probably need to rescue from a tank that is running dry since I haven't managed to collect any rain in it lately

TC,do you see much reproduction in your mosquito fish?  I want to stock some but don't know when I'll get around to another tank install.
