Hola Roxana,
When I searched for "Puzolana" in Wikipedia I found Pozzolana. Is this what you are refering to, or something else? Apparently pozzolana has high alkalinity, which might interfere with maintaining the proper PH in an aquaponics system.
Our aquaponic system is almost ready! We are going to use as the growing media a volcanic rock called PUZOLANA. Thanks Farmer Brown for your advice!
I asked to the people of Tajo La Florencia about Puzolana as you told us. Yes the value of the square meter of this type of rock is almost 8000 colones ($16). This material has been used in hydroponic and fish tank projects! I would like to know if somebody had used puzolana in aquaponics systems
Hola Farmer Brown! Nice to see you around these parts ;)
4 IBC tanks o...?? Tiens fotos para ver?
Roger
Hi to all! I just found the link!

Hola todos. I'm in Turrubares, near Orotina, and have had a 4,000 liter backyard system going for a little over 18 months. Anyone is more than welcome to stop by. I am using Tilapia and growing lettuce, herbs, and peppers. Would love to know if anyone has had luck with spinach and brocolli, which I have not mastered yet. Recently started trying rucula, which seems to do well so far. Would like to switch to a fishless system that relies on red composting worms to create the amonia instead of fish, which are enrgy intensive. Anyone done that? Worms process more food, by weight, than fish, and don't die when air runs out. Thanks.
We are planning to grow Azolla which is an aquatic fern that has a symbiotic relationship with bacteria that produce Nytrogen, you might know about it. Azolla has been use as a fertilizer on rice crops. It will be as tilapia food and extra nytrogen! do you have some experience with this aquatic plant?
Also in facebook I found a place calle Aquaponics Costa Rica. There are at least two people working in this kind of project in Costa Rica. In the one that is advertised in Guanacaste, they are growing soldier flies for feeding the fish. it´s very interesting!
Saludos y suerte, ahí me cuenta :)
