Roxana,
I have 30 tilapias about 400 grams each. Total 12 kilos. A little bit over the maximum capacity. The important point is this: if you focus on the number of fish rather than the total of kilos you could go right failure. You see, if you start with 100 fish at 10grams each you have 1 kilos of fish. Not enough to feed the vegetables but ok for a while meanwhile your system is getting it's balance. Three months later you still have 100 fish BUT the total weight would be ( just an example here) 5 kilos (from 10 to 50 grams). You can see that at one point the ratio between fish/plants will do this:;;
1) not enough - when starting
2) perfect balance - at sometime on the line
3) too much - because they grow as time pass
Still, you would have 100 fish! Bottom line, better to think in terms of total kilos than number of fish!
Roger

Today Fred went to Alajuela to look for a pump for our AP system. ! if you have more info where to get it! please let us know.
Hola Luis,
Muchas gracias ya se donde queda el sitio, casi en frente de una parada de buses.
Hello Roger
We are using media system: red volcanic rock. How many fish do you have in your AP system? How frequently do you feed them?
Roxana,
Fish required depends on how many square meters of growing space you are going to use. For example in a Deep Water Culture like mine, you can have between 5 and 10 kilos of fish for 6 m2 of growing space. You have the same tank size than mine. You could have 10 to 20 kilos of fish for up to a 12m2 growing area (+/-). Are you using a media system or a deep water one?

Thanks Roger for the information about where to get tilapias, but for our tank 900 liters I think we will need around 100 young fish? alevines and I will check about SUPER MACHO
