Rainwater collection roofing material

I am building a house and wanting to do rain water collection to help fill an aquaponics tank, garden water, ect.

I was looking at metal roofing but not sure what I need that won't kill the fish. I can't find any info on this.

Any one have such info?

Hey Jon, any experience using colloidal silver in the system to control pathogens? I have taken it every day for about 12 years with amazing results but not sure the fish would handle it.

Jim do you mean you ingest silver supplements? That's great they seem to be working for you. What pathogens do you get when you stop taking them? I dont take them. Does that mean Im infected with bad bugs? Silver definitely has antiseptic properties but im not sure how effective it is ingesting it as a supplement.

That said, ceramic water filters are very commonly impregnated with silver in order to keep them sterile. I havent tried it but i dont think there would be any harm in having silver in contact with AP systems depending on how you are adding it, however as silver is close to copper and zinc on the periodic table, it could have similar effect on fish. Would be interesting to find out for sure.

No idea on that, gentlemen. I've taken colloidal silver once, a couple months ago, prepared by a friend of mine that insisted it would cure my cold. It did, BTW, but who knows? Maybe the cold was on the decline anyway. My first hunch, without researching any details, is that the antiseptic properties would not do AP any favors. Jim, have you noticed any health benefits from the silver? Serious threadjacking here.

I used to use it, sell it and make it. It does kill bacteria, but as you know not all bacteria is bad.  

I've known people who swear by it's health benefits, but that could be a placebo effect. 

Over use will turn your skin blue.  The condition is known as Argyria.  

Colloidal silver is very easy to make. I'm sure you the can find the process with a Google search, but be careful.The guy below is real

Wow, I have no idea where to start on this so at the risk of further thread destruction here we go.

I have taken it for at least 12 years religiously (been studying it for @30) and I went from at least 2 bad colds and one bout of laryngitis a year to literally never getting sick at all. I can literally run around stark naked in 20F (rolled around in the snow at 0F) and have no ill effects whatsoever. This probably would have killed me years ago. I even got a terrible case of pneumonia back then and was told that I would get it over and over from then on. Yea, right, if I listened to my doctor I am sure I would have.

It is not a cold remedy. Let me make that clear. It is a cold preventative. We are so conditioned to go out and buy crap to end a cold that prevention never even occurs to most folks. There is supposed to be a molecule of silver in every one of our cells but due to soil depletion there is almost none in our food chain anymore. It MUST be in colloidal form or you will turn blue like this unfortunately wide spread misinformation pic above. The FDA (big pharma) has been trying to get it banned or classified as an insecticide for years because they know that if the truth ever became widespread it would put their system destroying (and rapidly failing) antibiotic patented meds right out of business. Fact!

As to making it I have and do not anymore. Unless you are prepared to spend many hundreds of $ purchasing a real cs generator quite unlike the ones you find on Ebay for example, I would NOT. I buy 4 quarts for 70.00 delivered of an extremely well produced and safe and STABLE solution from an online supply house http://www.bio-alternatives.net/buysilver.htm and that lasts me at least 2 and as much as 4 years if kept in a cool and DARK place (just remember black and white prints use silver as it reacts to light).

Yes I have watched cs evolve into the filter industry over the last 30+ years as it's amazing benefits have been rediscovered. Before the first patented antibiotics were produced cs was the leading antibiotic and unlike these pharmaceuticals DOES NOT destroy the very important aerobic bacteria in the or your system. As a result you will not get nasties like thrush, indigestion, etc. even if you down an entire quart in one sitting. Try that with your pharms. and you will probaly die so which is safer?? And NO you will not turn blue from cs.

Just like hemp which was outlawed to make Randolf Hearst a billionaire during prohibition (he owned millions of acres of forest and 99% of paper was made from hemp back then as was over 2000 other very important commodities including far better clothing than cotton will ever make AND hemp oil was considered the #1 health "cure all" for even skin cancer, kills it on contact in about 10 days ((every doctor in the 1800s would never leave the office without it)). Bet you didn't know that either), CS is standing in the way of the billionaires becoming even richer. Did you know that all surgical tools were made of silver for thousands of years and they are just now bringing silver back into the surgery room today because ss does NOTHING for bacteria, according to my hernia surgeon? "They" are keeping people in the dark on so many fronts just to keep lining their pockets with ever more $$. If "they" cannot patent it "they" WILL try to destroy it. Wake up folks!

Wow, Bob, I just reread your comment and for someone who made it and sold it you should know more than I do but your facts are all screwed up. Sorry. Go back and read more case studies. Even the Egyptians knew better than that.

And NO it is not that easy to make if you are after the perfect colloid stable balance. That is why I gave up making my own but I do keep my gen ready to go just in case this world collapses. Poor cs is better than no cs. You do seem to be up on all the partial facts about cs that big pharma wants you to know and spread around. I forgive you. Peace. I have no skin in this game.

In the ancient days, soldiers with enough money to afford it would have a silversmith make a foil that could be applied over wounds. Collloidal silver is something I have considered (especially in a SHTF scenario) as a home-made medication but not really gone with.

I've always heard that silver did not have the complications of other metals,, but overuse of anything could be dangerous. Remember as a kid when you got a cut? You probably had it painted with murcherichrome (sp).  Did me no harm. but i'd hesitate to use a mercury based product today if i had an alternative.

I am told the blue bloods of Europe never died of the plague due to the fact they ate off real silverware all their life so there was plenty in their system but in that form it also turned their blood bluish and their skin. Silver compounds and just plain licking it have their side effects.
