Just got a quote for a custom heavy duty fish tank 36" x 36" and 18" height w a hole cut out at the center for a standpipe. Is this a reasonable price? Thanks

What were you quoted, Elan?  Did it include shipping?

Heavy duty glass w black frame top and bottom. Acrylic he said is more expensive and the turtles will scratch it. Does not include shipping or delivery.

Pay no more than a dollar a gallon.  A plywood tank can be built for less, but if you are not capable then agriculture tanks work well.  You failed to post a price.

Ha! $675 was the quote. I wanted a glass tank so my turtles could see and not feel closed in. Thanks

Elan, My personal opinion is that your turtles will not have a problem not being able to look out at the world... Unless your uncle is Bil Gates, I seek a cheaper option and spend the rest of your money on developing the system you want.

Thanks Pat that is a great idea. $675 is quite an investment. I will look into something more affordable and start from there.
But Pat, my turtles and fish are always looking at me and smiling like they are talking to me. I think they like it! Lol :D

I believe Petco is having a sell still all tanks are $1.00 a gallon.

Thanks Ben yes I took advantage of this offer when I got the 40 gallon tank in my profile pic. I wanna upgrade to a 100 gallon tank and run a standpipe up thru the center. Figured I should look into something custom built as I have zero handy skills whatsoever to do that kind of a modification on my own.

I am considering using the rock formation in my tank now and mounting it to the center of the new tank and drilling a hole thru the bottom for the standpipe as the waste seems to mostly collect inside of my rock formation thru the holes at the bottom. It had a filter inside but it's a pain to clean so I took it out.

Also if the standpipe were easily removable or had the ability to be rotated exposing an opening to drain from the base of the tank, I could perhaps once a week just move the waste solids into that opening w a brush and give the plants a heavy weekly feeding. It could be controlled w valves to make draining easy.

Just getting ideas for now. Any suggestions are more than welcome.
