happy fishmas

Merry Fishmas everyone.  To whoever was offended, shame on you.  Get a life...

You have to be kidding someone was actually offended in some way by Fishmas.  What about Xmas or Christmas.  Get a life; be offended by black Friday the ritual of celebration of retailers earning enough money to be in a profit zone. Be offended because 1/3 of the children in this great country I live in the U.S live below the property level, be offended by the fact the largest employer in the U.S, pay scale begins at minimum wage. These things are offensive not Fishmas

Ok Im off the soapbox merry Fishmas everyone

Perhaps I missed someone bringing this point up, but this couldn't be someone knowledgable about the true origin and meaning of Christmas, as the fish symbol is very symbolic and linked with the beginning of Christianity. As well, fish show up I'm many parts of the New Testament. Sounds as if someone is just complaining for the sake of complaining.....
Its because, you see, mmkay, its because "Christmas" , the word, contains the name of Christ, mmmkay, and to replace his name with a...with a smelly old animal that has been the number one protein staple the work over since the beginning of time, has kept countless billions of humans over thousands of generations, is easy and safe to raise or capture, prepare and eat, and has become the symbol of Christ himself...that's BLASPHEMY, mmmmkay? Let alone the fact that my Christmas is so laden with overstress, pagan traditions, and contemporary commercialism that Jesus himself probably wouldn't want to touch his own birthday with a ten foot fishing vessel mast. Let alone the fact that the most prominent Christian writer of our time warned or people that we are our own worst enemies because we can't see the first for the trees. Mmmmkay? Just leave me be in my illusions because i have a nice little world here and i can't really figure out how people live in the real world, whether Christian or not.

I really am confused... how on earth could "fishmas" be considered offensive?... I just don't get it.

Can't fish also celebrate the birth of Santa Claus?

It is fitting in this day and age that once again we are all fired up by the 1/2 of 1 % (or less) who have no sense of humor and strive to take the fun out of everything they can.

Happy Fishmas and Merry Christmas to all

(Woe, not even spell ck likes Fishmas so thet means Silvia coined a new word!)

And oh yea, Jake has a potty mouth!

Hehe. What about Rudolph, the rummy-nosed tetra? And I don't even celebrate fishmas...

I don't think anyone was trying to abuse the name of Christ by that statement. You really have to take the time to listen to purpose behind what someone is saying, not just get offended by a self-fabricated attack. Offense should only be taken when someone is deliberately attacking you. I heard no mockery in Sylvia's statement. She was just havin' fun 'cause she likes fish! Heck, we all do! That's why we're on this forum in the first place!

Yea, but sometimes you just have to cut through all the BS and say what needs to be said to make a point.

"Merry buttfloss" potty mouth Jake.

Well now, I really don't understand all the kerfuffle. If someone takes umbrage at the way I word things, then I figure that's their problem not mine. Goes for both sides of the argument I guess. By the way Sylvia, MY grandkidies thought that was a great way to help our school of goldfish through the holidays. and to be quite honest, I value their opinions far more than some of the so called adults in our world. As I am writing this they are hanging over my shoulders yelling " Merry Fishmas, Everyone".

So someone was offended by fishmas. Big deal. Why the vulgar diatribe? Did I miss where they cussed you out? Do you only tolerate diversity of thought if you agree with it?

This is a world wide forum, many cultures are represented here. Occasionally someone is going to be offended. It's unavoidable. What is avoidable is picking sides and piling on. That only makes matters worse.

Why can't we all get along and just go with the flow?

Looks like the topic stopped being a topic last Tuesday.  Thanks for making it to the party on time...I am offended that you were so late
