My first system is a chift pist design, constant flood. The grow beds will be filled with gravel and a top layer of hydroton. There will be several of these grow beds, unless the gravel is expensive. then there will be several plastic containers and one large sump tank. The sump tank will have a pump to go through nft into the fish tank. This will provide a guard against fish dying by pump. Although the fish could die by lack of water, possibly. This design can have ad ones like a siphon for the deep water culture, to a grow bed. I estimate the cost to be $350. (usd) How realistic is this estimate if I want 5-7 trout, in a 150-250 gallon (us) tank? Lights will be t5 florescent bulbs. How much success have people had with this type of system? If I missed something to explain please tell me.

Hi Eric,

Are you setup as yet?

No, but I've started with a budget. I can't open the file now but, I'll tell you what I remember. $400 for all the variables so far, the list includes, fish tank $100, lights $100, fish $20, ect... Can you, or anyone, tell me if I'm in lala-land?

Hi Eric,

Won't be able to comment as prices vary from where you are to here. The rough conversion for my system is about

$800 USD's, but they would be about 40%-50% lower if i lived in America. Ap works when you startup and correct things as you go along.Come on, go for it.!
