Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

As someone just learning about aquaponics, although, I am very knowledgeable about plants & food. This is the main reason for my interest in aquaponics.  Due to the fact, that a great portion of what is available at most grocery stores are 90% GMO's.  And the meat is fed on GMO's, with added antibiotics, and growth hormones.

I represent a great deal of people who want to find a way to avoid store bought food. These people are not always wealthy, and many have extremely humble life styles.  There is a need for a small table top system to grow herbs and spices, as well as bigger set ups for those who want to grow medicinal plants for teas, and on up the scale.

From what I see on your page, I think your system is the sort of thing I am looking for, because of the added feature of no chemicals. What I keep finding in other systems I have looked at, is chemicals, and more chemicals.  I think I get the logic that the fish feed the plants, and the plants feed the fish. I am impressed that you use no chemicals.  I am interested in all facets of your systems, and how to DIY.

I am also interested in any feedback in this area.

FISH+PLANTS+DIY+RECYCLING= HEALTHY LIFE!

Ty Yron for your understanding and moral support that I am on the right road here.

So how's your system doing? Have you built one already?

TY both Yron and Michael for Your contribution and response in this group.

Michael- Your right , I use absolutely NO chemicals what so ever, except silicone sealant or pvc glue on assemblies. To Me the whole idea is to grow my own spices and vegetables later as I expand, without pesticides, fertilizers or any other chemicals, and to build with as many recycled materials as i can. This even makes the air in my trailer healthier. as well as cutting the cost of buying prefabricated parts and systems. Not to mention the creativity and thought that goes into making the set up, fun and rewarding !

Yron- can i use that as my mission statement? lol

Yron, ty for the question.  No, as I said in my discussion, I represent many others who are interested in aquaponics, and want to do a DIY chemical free, GMO free, and all organic system.  Instead of them all learning "how to," I will be doing that, as well as building my own system, and then by experience, I can help to build systems for my interested parties. I am looking forward to learning and executing what I learn.  I do have a lot of experience in out door growing, but the goal for me is to help others build indoor systems, for those who could not afford to, or be able to build it themselves.  They want to eat healthy, and through DYI I think it's possible.

Ty Wild Dog for your response.  What you just explained is exactly what we want to do.  The main idea is to build these systems as economically as possible, while using no chemicals, GMO products, and to be 100% organic.  I believe this is possible, and I am looking forward to learning this process.  I have been researching and learning as much as I can through video's and reading blogs. The people I represent know for a fact that as long as the board members, and stock holders in Monsanto are major politicians, Americans will be sold Monsanto products which are literal poison.  I will be studying your system, and the hacks around not using chemicals  Your help is very welcome, and once again, ty for sharing your knowledge.
