Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

I am switching over from raising Trout to raising Tilapia and Plecostomus (Plecos).  I intend to ship West of the Mississippi by over night FedEX or USPS Express Mail.  I intend to sell the Tilapia and Plecostomus (Plecos) by eBay and Craigslist.  I need 25 more large aquariums to hold breeders, fry and fingerlings.

Anyone have any large aquariums that are taking up your valuable room??  I am looking for 100+ gallon aquariums.

I have trout to give away; who wants them??  Call 360-697-7880 to make pick-up appointment.  They work for tanks, ponds or food.

Does this mean you found a state approved supplier for your initial stock of tilapia?

If I still lived in Port Orchard I could bring you a couple 90 gallon aquaria, but as I'm six hours away now, I wish you luck in finding a more local source.

I am a State licenses aquafarmer.  Certainly wish you were closer.  Where do you live?

I'm down in the Tri-Cities now, in the other corner of the state.  I run a small nursery, concentrating on sustainability and helping people grow their own food.  I've wanted to extend my home aquaponics projects into my commercial and community work, but the state has been reticent to grant me a permit to bring in tilapia, and it's difficult to keep the water cool enough during our long, hot summers for most of the other marketable, edible fish.  I saw your post in another section about looking for a state approved source for tilapia, which is why I asked if you had been successful in finding one.

Huck’s Fishing Hole is Tilapia fish breeder and a hatchery.  We are one of the very few Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife licensed/registered Aqua Farms authorized to breed, hatch, grow, hold, transport, import and sell Tilapia.

I looked all over America for pure strain T. Hornorum and pure strain African O. Mossambicus (a.k.a. “Mozambique”) breeding colonies, and no pure strain African O. Mossambicus could be found.  So I went to Africa and purchased the pure strain African O. Mossambicus.

We sell Breeding Colonies, Fingerlings and all male T. Hornorum Tilapia.

Right now I have a 4-month backlog.  You can reserve Tilapia for future delivery - NO deposit required.

We welcome phone and email orders - (360) 697-780 (Ask for Huck or Phil)
