Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

Hi,

i recently, about a month ago started my small aquaponics system consisting of a 200 gallon IBC container having 150 tilapia fingerlings. due to non availability of water test kits around i cannot count the ammonia, nitrates and nitrite although PH value is around 7.5. The problem that i am facing is i added plants a week ago but they are dying cannot figure out why as the fish are thriving and have gained size, probably this is because of non cycling of the system as i added fish to tap water after a week of initial installation.

temp is around 30 C and PH is around 7.5

pics are attached

plz help...

no media, so no biofiltration.. plant roots will get covered with debris and basically suffocate..

put in a media bed

Test kits are available on Amazon Prime here if you're interested.  The test kit will allow you to measure pH, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate.

hanks keith for your advice. as in pic below i have already added swirl filter and another filter of polyester hence water comes out pretty clean but still plants barely survice for 4 days.

@Carson:    not sure will amazon deliver products to pakistan..

Apologies - I had thought that AmazonGlobal exported to Pakistan but was mistaken.  Wish I could help, but don't have experience with swirl filters.  Best of luck.
