Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

I have about a dozen fat bullheads in a 275 gallon IBC tote that have been my AP "employees" for the past year. I have had to cull some of the fish biomass recently, and I noticed that the fish are nearly exploding with eggs and milt. From what I've seen, bullhead catfish require mud to make their nests, so their present living quarters is not going to cut it for their reproductive urges.

Will they just resorb their gonads if they can't breed properly, or will they shed all of their gametes and probably kill themselves and my plants by fouling the water?
