Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

I have 4 boxes of aquanourish food. Even kept in the bag, then inside the box, it puts off quite a strong feed-store odor. I cant keep it in the garage or shed since the instructions say it is perishable and shouldn't be allowed to get hot.

Any clever solutions?

When opening a bag for the first time, I transfer it to smaller "weekly sized" bag or bags and keep it in a cold room (under 50deg. F.

If you have difficulty with too much open to store in your family pantry and refrigerator, I recommend using as large a camp cooler as can fit your feed and three, or at least two, one gallon containers filled with water and frozen solid. Rotate those bottles to and from freezer and cooler as they thaw, and keep your feed as sealed and dry as possible while in the cooler.

I wonder if a box of baking soda would absorb the smell....

I put them under my kitchen sink. Its not too hot there, and I can't smell it anymore. Pretty soon I won't have to use stage 1 food, so Ill put all of that in the freezer until there are some baby fish again.
