I have given my goldfish away and now have blue gil.  I was given some trout food but they don't appear to be eating.  They look fine, water temp is about 68 and all else is good.  Any thoughts?

I haven't raised bluegill, but most of the fish I have tried usually took a couple days in the tank before they really started feeding. The pond goldfish are always ready to eat, but the perch and trout didn't eat right away after I got them. I have perch right now, and they are very shy about coming up for the food if the light is too bright. I usually feed them in the evening after the grow lights switch off.

Thanks.    It has been several days but I'll try switching the time and the amount of light.  What do you feed your perch?

I feed them the same high-protein pellets I fed to the trout. They have really slowed down in the last couple days, so I'm going to check the water temperature and change out some of the water.

where do you get your blue gil? and how are they doing now?

I got mine from a friend but I know there is a source here near Portland OR.  Best to check in your area.  They are not great eaters but all are alive and swimming around.  If you are in N Calif you might check with Jon Parr
