How cold is too cold to start a new system? Would it be better to wait until spring or take a chance at cycling before Christmas?

Hi Damon,

In my particular instances I've found that nitrifying bacteria to kick off cycling are not as sensitive to the cold as the charts and books would have us think. I went for it too see what would happen and am glad that I did. (These were fishless cycles just so you know).

Okay, great I think I'll get started then, lol! It makes sense. Wouldn't they be adapted to the climate?

Bacteria growth below 60 degrees slows dramatically. It will cycle but it will take a long time.
