What solution does anyone have in controlling mosquitoes in the sump tank? Adding 50 mosquito fish to control larvae on the water surface right now. Open to all solutions!!

i'd use minnows.. TCLynx has been using the mosquito dunks
Making sure the water is agitated helps too. If there is a different way you could be emptying the water into the sump to cause more of a disturbance, go for it. Plus it would add better aeration :)
The water is cycling all the time to near empty but still enough water to contain small fish. I will consider putting aeration stones in also. There is plenty of food for the 50 Mosquito fish!!!!
Couldn't you just put a "window screen" cover over the sump tank? That's what everybody here does to keep them out of their rainwater recovery drums at their homes.
The mosquito fish appear to be doing a good job in controlling the mosquitoes. Checked the sump tank this morning, appears to be very few mosquitoes compared to the previous mornings. I will look into netting to cover the tank also.
Some larvae would be good for the fish but the mosquitoes were starting to get out of control.
Nothing like opening the sump tank door and you become engulfed in a swarm, it is time for some evasive action!
any chance those were midges instead of mosquitoes? Not that it matters, the minnows will those too. Got to get some minnows myself.
George,
Some might have been midges but the swarms that engulfed me left bites. I read a few articles about midges, appears that usually do not bother humans and pets.
Anyways the mosquito fish seem to be controlling my swarms of what ever the biting critters "WERE" !
I am a aquaponics owner now!!
What about Mosquito Dunks? I use them in the dogs' water and kidde pool. I don't know if they would be OK in an AP system or not.
Man, I want some Mosquito fish too.

George, I found the Mosquito fish at livekoiforsale.com
The fish are doing their job keeping the mosquito larvae down and multiplying like crazy.
