Hi,

I live in Malaysia and just started my raft system lately.  The system uses tilapia and has already been

fully cycled for 4 months++. I planted lettuce into the system but not sure whether the growth rate is as

normal or slow.

Is it normal for lettuce to be at this size at 15 days? I planted the seed direct.

thanks

They look a little 'leggy' to me. Like they did not have enough light after sprouting. The main stem seems to be too small to support the plant properly.

Possible temperature is too high,Optimum growth temperature is 15-20 ℃

looks about right. we start our seeds in trays to save the raft space.. it also makes the roots grow when they aren't in constant contact with water.   you  can down load pics directly to the post by using the insert media tab (2nd from left just above this box)

here is a pic of our trays at 15 days  ...notice the red lettuces always take longer.. the left over plants on the trays to the right are about 21-30 days.. I would say yours look good!

Hi

Rob,  thanks for the picture. Well felt more relief now that is seems normal for now. Seriously cant wait to build a green house as big as yours.  thanks !!

Oh one more thing Rob, normally what medium do you use for your seedlings? also what do you feed them with since they are not in the system?
