Hi R.K.,

Hey nice video, and some great ideas

Filter bed is good before the NFT, but don't leave it empty. put some plants in there!

If you find the bucket pre-filter involves too much work to clean, or needs cleaning so regularly it becomes a chore, you can make it into a swirl filter with a drain tap for easier cleaning

Hope you get over the cold soon

Thanks...I didn't realize how much I was sniffling until I watched the video.

A swirl filter is a good idea.  So the bell siphon would have a couple more pipes to make the water swirl in the bucket?

Hi R.K.,

You can join the both drain pipes from the beds into a single one, entering the swirl filter. Here is a link to a simple design of a swirl filter.

You can place a pipe in the center bottom of the filter, a ninety degree fitting attached to the outside of the container to this with an extension and finally a tap at the end for convenient/periodic draining.
