All,
I'm brand new to the forum and just learned about aquaponics a few months ago. I have been intrigued by the prospect of an aquaponics system since I first heard of it. However, I like in Oklahoma (near OK City) and it gets very hot here in the summer. Not to mention my house is rather small and I don't know that there would be any place to put a system inside. Has anyone else had any success with an outdoor system in Oklahoma?
I'd appreciate any other advice for a noob like myself as well! Glad to be here, and I look forward to any responses!
Kalen

Get Sidney book. A highlighter and read and mark. Then think. Then use the search button. Someone has had almost any question you can think of before so there is a lot of information here.
Ok hot I am from Louisiana, I work in the Middle East. I would take Middle East heat over Louisiana walmart parking lot and bad starter.
Think In Ground Pond. Earth is 55 degrees soo it helps.
Sidney book? If you meant Sylvia's book "Aquaponic Gardening" then, yes, I totally agree with you, that is a wonderful place to start with aquaponics. As far as heat, place your tank in the shade, and yeah, putting your tank in the ground is a good idea too. I'm not from Oklahoma though, so can't help you there :)

I live in the Oklahoma panhandle and I am starting a system in my greenhouse. I can't be much use to you right now as my knowledge is kinda limited but I am absorbing as much as possible. I would be glad to help out in anyway I can 2 learning people are always better then one. I feel ya about hot and cold two days ago it went from 90 to 24 in 17 hours out here. This was my first system I started one winter day when it was snowing and blowing. as for space a 10 gal fish tank and a planter is all you need to start getting to learn the very basics.
Hi Kalen, Michael here, I live in Newalla as well. I am in the research phase and wondering what you have decided to do?
