How many strawberry plants can I fit into a half 55g blue barrel?

I plant half a dozen or so in a 10 sq ft bed and they spread, filled up the bed.

So I should probably put just two or three for each half barrel?

Sounds good.  They should spread all summer and you'll get strawberries early next spring.  That's the way it works here,anyhow.  Good luck.
