If you have small fish will have to add nutrients to feed your plants and continue for sometime until your fish are fairly large. It seem everything is based on a one pound fish per ? gallons of water.  I go with one fish per 7 1/2 gallons of water.  You mentioned you have 6 grow beds.  How big are the grow beds and what are you growing.  A quart seems to be too much for 300 gallons of water.  Start with ounces and watch the results.  Every plant needs different requirements in term of nutrients. This isn't an easy process.  How are your nitrates?  Tom

My system is built the same as the Murry Hallam video using totes ,, as for the fish I have 50 right now,, and from what you are stating ,, i have enough fish right,, the plants that i am growing are ,, cucumbers, tomato,, sweet pumpkin,, cilantro,, brocoli,, cabbage,, cantelope,, hot peppers. watercress for the fish.

If your fish weigh one pound each, 40 pounds total, you have enough.  If not several of your plants are heavy feeders and need additional nutrients. Do you have a test kit for the water?  What are the readings for Nitrate, PH, Ammonia, and nitrates?  All these effect plant and fish growth among may other things.  Tom

using the API test kit ,testing is as follows : ph=7.2  ,, amonia = 0.25 ,, nitrite = 0 ,, nitrate 5.0 my fish are about 3-5 inches , my system has been running for 5 months

Your fish can't support the size garden you have.  A good nitrate level would be between 40 and 80.  Watch the two just added videos they are wonderful and very informative. Tom

On the header of the website is a link to videos and others all in green with white lettering. Just hit that link and it will bring you to many useful videos in addition to the ones I mentioned. Tom

maxicrop with iron is to provide "micronutrients" to your plants.. you only need a cap ful or two at the most..and that only once every 3 or 4 weeks until your system matures..

do you have worms in your growbeds?  they'll start producing waste that is more readily availble to your plants almost immediately

If maxicrop is only to provide micronutrients what are people to do when they have plant problems do to lack of nutrients? Worms may be an answer for some but at what cost and how long will it take?  Do you need pounds to have your garden grow properly?  It would be nice if someone would give an honest answer to beginners on how long it takes to get a garden producing.  Tell them you can't grow anything for many months unless they grow hydroponically at first or wait. That's the truth.  Adding a couple of fish does nothing without time.  For him to improve his system he must add fertilizer and add it now.  Aquaponics is a lot of fun but it takes a long time to establish a system.
