Hello,

I"m testing one of my new grow beds before I move on to the rest of them. What I'm noticing is that after the bell siphon drains the grow bed, there is about 2 inches of water left in the bottom after the siphon breaks.

Is this normal or should more water be drained. My grow bed is level, my bell has notches at the bottom 1/2 inch high. Shouldn't the water drain all the way down to 1/2 inch?

Thanks,

Dan and Kirsten

draining down and leaving a couple of inches of water is not a big deal..

i have my growbed outlet on the side of my growbeds about 3" up from the bottom (1/2 ibc gb)

Thanks for the feedback Keith!

Hi Dan,

This is normal in most cases. I've got around this to some extent, by reducing the bore(internal diameter) of my bell to have a closer fit around the standpipe, and by having a bell with only 4 small holes, instead of notches(their total bores add up to equal the bore of the standpipe). The water remaining also helps by preventing fine debris from being sucked into the FT.
