Why is it that i cant find system plumbing like mine? I have my pluming going out of the bottom of media beds using a bell siphon constant flood and drain.(pump never turns off) I have the plumbing go under the ground. its about 2 ft below the media bed then goes to a 90 degree and it runs horizontal about 8 ft over to the DWC then 90 deg up about 20 inches and finally 90 deg to dump in DWC/sump.
The bad thing is when i break the siphon i have to re prime it but it sure beats walking over pipes.
Why is it that i see every flood and drain with one on top of the other?
Or long runs of pipe to walk around?
\Thanks in advance

Jim. A proper wiki page would allow the entire community to contribute to such a "bible" as well as self moderate it. Much easier to navigate a table of contents on a wiki page then search this kludgy ning community thing. If we asked nicely maybe Silvia would even put it here under lets say wiki.theaquaponicssource.com for example. Gives her store interweb search hits anyway :)
Also as for the searching forums, google is almost always a superior index to search. Try this for example to limit your google search to only this site "site:community.theaquaponicsource.com plumbing vent" and you get this thread :)
Sorry that was a thread jack to a jack, but im done. Continue 'venting' about plumbing!

... It just gets frustrating as we repeat the same messages or advice over and over. Big problem with forums in general. Advice seems to disappear into the vastness and search never seems to work right. Borders on a joke in my experience. I am thinking of keeping a list of common answers to common questions and just cut and paste. (and you should do the same for sure) It would be interesting to keep a count and when a question reaches say a 10 it should make it into a Q&A page that could become an AP bible of sorts. I realize we have such a page here, sort of...
Good stuff Chris, Perhaps you could get that done as you obviously have a handle on it. Also thanks for the "jack" and the search advice. That should be at the top of such a Wiki page. Excellent place to start. Very often the "pearl" of a thread is a "jack". Also great for Sylvia. I send along a promotion for our forum with every AP related item I sell on Ebay. This forum is exploding in a very good way. Excellent. I never would have thought of Wiki.

I believe there is already an aquaponics Wiki or at least there was several years ago.
Ill send Sylvia a private message. She will have to get her web person that does the updates on the store to take care of it. Should be simple to deploy it in a subdomain then from there, anyone can edit it! Ill be glad to help moderate and mold the content at that point but im busy the next two weeks. I know everyone says they are "busy" but my parents arrive here in Vietnam tomorrow and my wedding is end of the week so, busy for real I promise! :)
If i was smart i would have checked before saying something. Youre right. There is and Ive never seen it linked here before.

There are actually two different ones
Wiki Aquaponics This one seems to have gotten more material.
Aquaponics Wiki This one was an attempt to distill info from BYAP
I think you may find few people have the time to go distilling info down once they find it.
I find if I answer the same question several times in quick succession, I write a blog post about it. And then the next time I get asked that question I put a link to the blog post. But even on my site some people have trouble finding things so then Joe started making an index to my blog posts to help people find things but then I'm not sure how to keep the index post on top.
Have a great wedding and you'll have to fill us in on wih you're doing in Vietnam. Should be an amazing climate for AP. Are you there for career, citizen, ex-patriot (lots of that going on). You invoke so many questions. Cheers! (it's not thread jacking if we make reference to AP)
BTW: Funny thing, I just did a search at the Wiki AP pages for "vents" NOTHING.
