So i am new at this. Very efficient with plumbing and building. Not so much with growing. I live in a climate where it is freezing 6 to 7 months out of the year. So I think a greenhouse is out of the question for me. I do have a  garage with heated slab to work with. It has a useable area of 200 sq ft.

Question 1) How do i do it? Any links, literature, or comments welcomed. Thanx!

Fish tanks with fish.

they poop and create the working Neuts.

pump the fish tank water to a grow bed (with either water only and floating rafts, or a growing media)

the plants in the grow bed will take up what they need and clean the water. then return the water to the fish tanks and the cycle continues. 

this is just the simplest short story. understanding how a fish tank system cycles and why it is important to the survival of your fish should be your first task, after that it is just plant a seed and watch it grow and for signs of stress.

This is a great place, people are willing to help  and alot of experience! I am not so much of an instructor, but just wait other will be by soon!

Hey Tony,

I am told that Arctic Char is about the most delicious fish known to man and they require COLD water so you may want to look into that. If I get the hang of Trout I may take the plunge on them myself

I would think cold weather crops as well but keep in mind that if your water temps get below say 50F the bacteria that make the balanced system work sloowww dowwnn. A lean-to greenhouse that you can cover with insulation at night on the S side of a heated house or whatever might work for you. Trade off with lights or Sun and heat and fuel. At 20F on a sunny day here the GH gets up to 90F at times so it could help heat the house during the day as well for a little payback.

Just some thoughts. Never lived in quite such a cold place but I do watch Gold Rush religiously
