we just got thru installing a new 3/4 horse sweetwater blower for our aquaponic and fish sides. All are doing great with the exception of the IBC totes of 250 gallons each. The air just fizzles out when put down in the bottom. What causes this. We are going to make the hose shorter..... up 1/2 way and see what happens with the air, also we have large air stones on each of the tubing. We will see if the shorter tubing will help or.....also having to put a smaller air stone on hose as well???? Any ideas out there on why the air won't bubble down when at 4-5 foot level? Is it pressure of water or what????? merry christmas mary

the tanks are 250 gallons of water,I don't know what the pounds would be???? with (2) air stones going to the bottom of the tank, the stones are the size of a 50 cent piece, the hose is about a 1/4 "and about 5 foot from the main line of 3/4"PVC of which has the screwed in adjustable air diffusers? Thank you for your help Mary

Hello, Yes, it is due to the pressure. Look at the pump curve for your blower and it probably maxes out near 56" (can't remember that model). You have to take into account water depth, friction loss to the stone and resistance through the stone (10" resistance for medium pore diffusers). Just hang them at 2.5' deep. How many stones in the tank, what size stones and what's your max pounds going to be in the tank? I can do a quick calculation to make sure you have enough air if you want.
