I think I may have goofed in a test kit purchase. I recently purchased and API Pond Kit, first after I got home I realized it had no Nitrate solution, only pH/Ammonia/Nitrite and Phosphate, then I picked up API Nitrate solution from the Aquatics store. What I would like to know is there a difference in the API Pond Kit and the API Freshwater Kit. I noticed some of the scales are different colors for the same tests.

I currently am running the fish side in an aquarium/tank. Anyone else make this mistake and is it really a mistake? Should just go back and get the Freshwater Master Kit?

Hey go here and get the whole kit for about 16.00 dollars. I love this place and get mine there all the time. You can also get singles bottles here very low cost. As for the kits being different as long as they are testing freshwater values for Nitrates, Nitrites, Ammonia,, and PH you should be fine.

You may be curious about how much nitrate you have in your system but other than that I don't see how it matters, so long as your ammonia and nitrite levels are low.  Generally, my ammonia is at .25 and nitrite 0.  I test for nitrates once in a while but have never had much in my system.  If you have plants, they'll take it up.

Thanks George but it is not a matter of "curiosity".  It is a matter of consistency in testing.  Adjusting variables before any testing is complete can render the final result null and void.  The question was simply was anyone aware of differences in the kits, specifically the POND kit I purchased by mistake and the FRESHWATER lot I probably should have purchased.  I contacted MARS the API manufacturer and yes there is differences, one in the swatches and also in the number of chem drops added to the water to yield the test results.  They really have good support.

Nice Price Wes. I contacted API and the kits are different.  Different swatches and different amount of chem drops on some test.  Appreciate the link!
