who is making better food for fish?

Nelson and Son's Inc., the makers of Silvercup were bought by Skretting back in 2008. They 'officially' changed the name of Silvercup to "Skretting USA" on March 1st of this year...

If that helps any...you might try looking for it under that new name...

     I buy rabbit food(alfalfa)as something green for my chickens.Nice to read it does well with talapia. I read something once of creating a bloom using cow paddys.

  Funny much of the information here reminds me of people raising chickens.Its not for the money saved! Fresh eggs from well fed chickens are much better than store bought.

  I would be curious about human urine used in aquaculture?

 Ive been raising barley and alfalfa and clover and purslane for my chickens.Most of it only a few inches high or cut off and left to grow again.Im getting into quail and theyre protein requirments are high.Romaine lettuce is one of my ideas for this.Commercial feeds use a lot of soy and fish meal.

Now there is a big difference between using manure in Aquaculture and using manure in Aquaponics.  Aquaculture they are growing just fish and most people cook their fresh water fish before eating them and hence the danger of e-coli, salmonella etc are far less and people are not as worried about those things getting into the water for pure aquaculture to produce the algae bloom (but in most cases they use fertilizer rather than manure though I've heard of chickens, pigs or cows being part of such things before.)  I'm sure human urine could be used to, just keep in mind that medications often come out in the urine and there are some diseases that can be transmitted that way too so some care should be taken.

I just got the aquaorganic feed in and my fish didn't seem to like it, Gonna keep trying to see if they finally bite.
