Greenhouse Automation

I am interested in automating my greenhouse so that I can monitor temperature, water pH, etc. while I am away.

Rob, I know that you have done some cool things. Your video was one the things I discovered that got me excited.

What type of controllers/systems are available and how do you get started with this?

My automation system is all custom built. I couldn't justify spending the money on real systems...but I course it would have probably been cheaper to purchase the components vs. my time.....? Anyway, I'm planning on producing another video that details some of my automation system. I'm currently making a "fall update" video and then will do the automation version.

I've been trying to develop my system so that others could use it....Still have a bunch of bugs in the hardware and software that are annoying, but overall the system works very well. I'm able to monitor it and make changes from work! ;-)

Not quite yet, but it's still in the works! I have made a couple of other videos on building strawberry towers and building a geodesic dome greenhouse and a couple of others. I've posted them on this site, or you can access them directly on youtube at web4deb I'll get there eventually!

Rob thanks for the link...I watched your videos... you do a great job with those...which video editing software do you use? I am planning to build some strawberry towers as well! Keep me informed of your computer monitoring software...very interested in that!

CyberLink PowerDirector. It's around $50. Very easy to use!
