Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

I am in complete shock at how well the cabbage has come in in my aquaponics setup.    Now as I have over 40 plants I am wondering how close can I stack the cabbage?    I am thinking maybe 12 - 14 inches apart?

You must really like cabbage

Well I got more than I bargain for,   I did not expect every last one of those seeds to come up!    I was actually planning on increasing my worm population.    I have just read of using worms alone to run the system "vermiponics"

The idea is growing more and more on me as you don't worry about fish at all.

So I figure if I feed the cabbage to the worms, I could ( with the help of all the cabbage growing around my home have a self sustained system, without the need for fish food.

What kind of system r u running? Raft, flood/drain, nft?

Hi Aaron,

Flood and drain is my setup.

hi Halemart- Oh yea sorry that was in your profile wasn't it? Ha ha. Was your system prefabricated or is it home made? What kind of media? Pump? How big is your growbed?

In the vid I didn't see a filter on the tilapia tank. Are you filtering? If not 2 fish that size will produce ammonia quickly.

Filter is on order, and I am swapping out the water to compensate till filter arrives.    The lady I bought these from had these and 4 other adult fish in her tank and swapped out the water every 6 months!!!.     Not something that I want to duplicate, but amazing to me what quality of water these fish can tolerate.

I am planning on a mini aquaponic setup to filter this better, just need to work out the details of the micro siphon, and move the tank.

Thanks for pointing this out.

It depends on the variety of cabbage. Ive grown cabbage that was 3' wide and ive grown cabbage that had a 6" head. I would look at your variety and go from there.

Hi Ryan,

Thanks,   That makes sense I will see how they do.

3' wide wow what a large cabage!
