Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

I've got a few disease/ pest problems with my plants. One of the problems I have is called Leafminer, which is a worm. It's the white sqigily lines in the leaf. It's affecting my lettuce, pakchoi and broccoli.

The tomato plants have been getting brown spots in the leaves and later developing into small holes. At first I thought it was just a nutrient deficiency but when they holes appeared I realised it was something else

This is not a very good pic but you can see it on the edge of the bottom left leaf.

I have no previous experience with aquaponics so I don't know which pesticides to use or of any other biological controls that would not harm the fish. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't worry about the leaf miner, they generally don't cause enough damage to hurt the plants long term.

The green veins with yellow leaves is usually a sign of iron deficiency when it appears first in new leaves.

Some chelated iron can help with that.

Seaweed extract can help take care of many trace element deficiencies common in new systems and once the pH comes down into the 6.5-7.5 range most of the other problems tend to go away.

I've made a garlic spry as a pest desaturate. Will let you know how it goes.
