In the photo, note the web like micorhyzal fur among the roots.  That's a symbiont fungus that increases surface area of the roots and thus uptake of nutrient, many fold.  I just now noticed that it occurs in a band of one inch just around high water level.  Its the result of water infused with vermicompost.  I've never observed it in soil gardening but Paul Staments gets it from growing fungi next to his plants.

I've seldom seen plants look so healthy.  Many of the baby plants bolted though.  Probably from wide temperature swings from 48F at night to 90's day.  I don't have fans and misters in yet.
