your prolly gonna want to wrap it up with black plastic, or paint it black.  wait till it gets summertime and that stuff will outbreak everywhere.  In my experiences any way.  My NFT got stinky if i did not flush it out every now and then,  and the fish tank turns green,  the water is clearish now, but the sides still have algae,  and my algae eating fish died/froze during winter.

My water was very green from algae but the water turned crystal clear within the last week. We had a cols snap and some rain so I am thinking maybe the cold killed off the algae.I added some Maxicrop seaweed extract today to try to get my plants going a little better till my system is cycled. The water is now brown but hope it stimulates the plants a little.
