Broccoli and cauliflower are starting to take off with this fall weather after languishing under a source of nutrients from goldfish only. I have a 2lb bass in the fish-tank now and I've moved the goldfish to a cushy indoor aquarium to thank them for their service. The smallmouth was ticked off for a while and wouldn't eat until I gave him his own 85 gallon tank. Now he grabs…

Hey Michael, Thanks for the interest. You have got the right idea about getting dirty, everything you start will begin the learning process. It's a wonderful way to live. My wife Sarah and I live in downtown Orlando where we are working on using the courtyard in our home to grow. We originally built the pond/ tank and deck to catch rain water. Then my Dad cut out the article from the times about spotless gardening and we have working hard to retrofit our tank to grow Tilapia. We just stocked it with 157 fingerlings. All the best! rb

Thanks for joining the Aquaponic Gardening community!  I hope you find it a fun place to explore aquaponics.  There is a real blend of experienced and new aquapons in this community, so please don’t hesitate to get in there and start asking questions.  Everyone is quite happy to help out new members – no question is too basic.  


A great place to start is to read the “How to Use This Site” link on the upper right corner, “Start Here” section of the Home page.  You might also find the “Aquaponic Gardening Rules of Thumb” guidelines helpful.
