A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

I am officially in "cycling" phase. Sadly I must admit in following my own path of least resistance I am using the sacrificial "gold fish" to get things going. Surprisingly enough they are pretty effective at their job. (Amonia NO problem!) Am getting seedlings in today in raft system in hopes that I get them in in time enough to possibly save a few of these little gold buddies. :-)- ok, so I know  should have gotten the plants in first but. my overzealousness got the best of me. Is my first system and built on austerity budget. Am using it to learn alot of the ends and outs of design and water quality issues and it's working...I'm at the school of hard knocks now and learning zillions. (I'm sure some of you out there are feeling my pain :-)  oh, and also my sheer delight.) More later! I hear my lettuce seedlings screemin' like little babies. Will hopefully get time to get some pics up and maybe a video.  Not enough time in the day! Clair

Clair,

Is your system homemade or a purchased one? Also, how large is it? I haven't purchased my system yet, but probably will within the next week and just wanted to catch someone in the beginning stages. I would like to follow your progress. It will help me in my endeavor. Hope everything progresses perfectly.
