Just starting out.

i don't remember the first time i saw aquaponics explained online. perhaps it was a video, or an article. one thing i do know, is that it has inspired me. i am currently a student at my local community college, with big dreams of having a PhD in chemistry or agriculture perhaps. even in high school i wanted to be a chemist because i wanted to pioneer the many uses of industrial hemp. now that i've been out of school and worked for a few years my dreams of saving the world have evolved into a realization that food is a major issue. for this reason i have decided to put my focus on aquaponics. 

i have a plan! and that is to gather the materials and have a system up and running by the middle of february. so far i have started a compost pile (back in november) and a worm bin (just a week ago). everything i am doing is staring out small. i have nothing and am starting out from nothing. my eventual goal is to grow 25% of my family's food by the end of next year. 

also. i am a single mother to a 19 month old little girl named Alice.
