Hello,
There is technical confusion for me to understanding how transferring trouts from one raceway to another raceway through sorting will(not) effect FCR amount in origin raceway and destination raceway , because when we transfer trout from one raceway to another one ,we add history of feeding of each of them(trouts) to destination raceway , so this factor should re-calculate for both of raceways ,
Is my theory for effecting of sorting to FCR re-calculation correct or wrong ?and if it is correct , how can we re-calculate FCR after sorting in origin and destination raceways?
Thanks ,
kaveh

You can do FCR over and over again if you know where you started and what you end up with. We weigh all of our fish every 6 weeks and harvest off the top. So we know where we start, and what we end with. Along the way we measure to the tenth of a pound all feed inputs. Currently we are hitting in the .9 for 2 pound+ fish. WOOHOO
Kaveh... the FCR is a feed conversion ratio... the amount of feed required to produce 1kg weight of fish...
Even if you only transfer some of the fish from one raceway... you can still aproximate the amount of feed used per fish while in that raceway...
And then add the amount of feed used per fish in the second raceway... to determine the FCR....
Or near enough...
Hi Sylvia,
Thank you , I did it , I am beginner in using site features efficiently,
Hi Kaveh. You might post this as a forum post - more members respond to questions in there than in the Blog. Also check out some of the presentations that I posted on the Speakers page of the Aquaponics Association website - http://aquaponicsassociation.org/2012-conference-speakers/. Especially Mathew Ferrell and Ken Semmens. I believe both did presentations on trout feeding rates that you may find useful.
