I'm trying to write a business plan for a commercial aquaponics "farm", but writing such a document is not really within my skill set, and I'm having trouble finding a good template to start from.…Continue

How did you find us?

Are you an aquaponic gardener already?
Yes
If so, what type of system? (pick all that apply)
Just built a system from Nelson & Pade, 4x28gal fish tanks, plus one 3'x5' grow bed. Just added fish about a week ago.
Please tell us something else about yourself.
Discovered the hard way that tilapia are suicidal. (Apparently they love to jump out of the tanks. Wish I had known that sooner.)

Troy, I need to meet you. I also live in Denton, Tx and I desperately need help and support from experienced aquapons. I saw an old post of yours saying that you are trying to start a commercial operation. I am as well, but not here in Denton. My friend has land in Weatherford where we will be setting up shop this spring.

I know nobody in the area that does what we do and I am having trouble finding supplies without resorting to the internet. It would be awesome to hear from you and find out how/where you obtain your fish, duckweed, medium, etc. I am also interested to know how you and your system handles the Texas heat. If you would like to contact me directly, my number is 940-300-1038. Thanks! Brian Cheatham

Hi Troy     This is Tim Mann of Friendly Aquaponics. I've been so busy I haven't even had time to visit the gardening forum. This forum is hard to figure out how to use sometimes, and I don't know what your direct email is. I don't want to just post the business plan cause no one else has asked for it, so if you email me at training@friendlyaquaponics.com, I will send a copy of the business plan directly to your email.

Hi Troy,

Yes, tilapia a jumpy buggers. Trout are even worse! They settle down after a day or so.

Thanks for joining the Aquaponic Gardening community! I hope you find it a fun place to explore aquaponics. There is a real blend of experienced and new aquapons in this community, so please don’t hesitate to join in. Always thrilled to have experienced growers join us – please post some photos of your system!

We have just one rule - keep it cordial (no flaming!).

Thanks again for joining us, and I look forward to getting to know you.
