Are you an aquaponic gardener already?
No
Please tell us something else about yourself.
I have gardened on and mostly off since 1972. Working multiple jobe and traveling for work has not been conducive to keeping a garden.
My goal is to purchase 5 acres or more and cover a section in frame and plastic and do a floating raft system using tillapia, or catfish in a feeding tank and mabey have prawns in the raft tank.
If I opt to do a modified system I will pass on the prawns and take out the sewage from the fish and add back fresh to replenish what I take out.
Then I would consider a second smaller tank to grow an algae to use as feed the tillapia, or I would raise worms to feed catfish and thensell some of the castings and use the remainder for a modified aquaponic/ hydroponic bucket system with a wicking soil mix for very long growing things such as shallots and leeks and trellis things like mellons and vine type plants.
I want to raise Nubians, Guernsey's, and Moran Chickens.
I have worked for the last year+ with an organic farmer who is 79 years old using the raised bed system and the weeding is finally getting the best of him. I'm 62 and thinking ahead to enjoying my garden not being a slave to it.
That's all for now,
Reed
