A 10-foot grow wall of V-Tower planters. The advantages here over another well known tower planter is that these are more friendly to use under grow lights due to their shorter length, yet provide more space than their 3-foot towers. Also, there is no need to pull the media in order to plant a V-Tower, simply spread out the slot and media with your fingers and drop your starter plants in. The miniature DWC tube makes up for the difference in length between the V-Tower and their 5-foot tower. This grow wall also utilizes a gravity fed overhead reservoir that delivers a constant 7 gallons per hour flow to each tower...Some people call it knocking off their design, I call it an improvement upon their design.

Tank is just a 275 gallon IBC with about 50 Bluegill, 8 goldfish and 3 common Plecos. I have a 75 gallon sump with a simple bucket filter below my return lines that just has the black and green Matala filter media to catch large solid waste from the IBC that eventually breaks down into smaller bits that get recycled into the system. Red wigglers live in the bucket filter and towers, not doing anything special or high tech. The fish get fed Purina Aquamax twice a day.
The only reason I did the vertical thing is because of all the hype around it and it makes for a good conversation piece.
Actually, I've been using this design in my basement system for over a year and the black poly drip line has never clogged once, I'm using no special filtering. It's the exact same drip line that they use over in Laramie with their towers. The Matala brand media used in these also does the exact same thing as their media, that's precisely why Matala is in business to this day. Even the people at Matala were surprised to see their media used this way and working so well.
i don't think it's knocking a proven method..what kind of yield have you gotten from this new method?
those black feed tubes to the top of each tower will clog..
a good thing about media in the "other" towers is the surface area it provides for the nitrification process.. you'll have to prefilter your water in this setup
